Agencies ask for four shots.

Headshot

Hair back, little or no makeup. They want to see your face as it is.

Profile

From the side, with the same light and from the same distance.

Full length

Fitted basics against a plain background, so they can see your proportions.

Three-quarter

With a bit of movement. Agencies want to see that you can hold a pose.

The Mini session gets you exactly these four, with no retouching, in natural light. Look Book and Editorial are for when you already have an agency and need a book, or want to shoot a test to send to one.

Common questions.

I'm just starting out. Is this right for me?

Yes. The Mini and Look Book sessions are mostly for people putting together their first portfolio or updating a comp card. You don't need an agency to book, and Nils will walk you through every pose. The point is to get you photos that help you get signed.

What should I bring to a modeling session?

For agency submissions, plain fitted basics: a white t-shirt, dark jeans, a simple dress. They want to see you, not the clothes. For Look Book or Editorial, bring a range of options and we'll plan the looks together beforehand. Keep makeup natural unless we've agreed on something else, and come with clean hair that can be styled a few ways.

Which agencies can I submit these photos to?

Any agency you like. The photos are what the big agencies in Toronto, New York, Paris, Milan, Los Angeles and Tokyo expect. We're not scouts and we're not tied to any agency, but Nils can tell you which kinds of agencies suit your look and what they'll want to see.

Do you do hair and makeup?

Not ourselves, but we can put you in touch with makeup artists and hair stylists in Toronto we work with often. For Look Book and Editorial sessions we'd really recommend one. Just ask.

How many final images will I receive?

One retouched photo with the Mini, three with Look Book, and with Editorial you pay for the ones you choose. You also get every unretouched photo from the session. Extra retouched photos are $35 each for editorial, or $50 each with beauty retouching.
