Receive your images

Retouched images are delivered as a Google Drive link within 24 hours of your session — often the same afternoon for a morning booking. The folder holds both web-optimized files and full high-resolution versions, so the same set works for a LinkedIn upload and for print.

Same-day, next-day, and what's realistic

"Same-day" is a real offer, not a marketing line, but it is not unconditional — it depends on what is still open in the day when you go looking. Two things decide it.

The slot has to exist. Availability on the pricing page is live, so what shows as bookable is bookable. If today is full, the next opening is usually a day or two out rather than the one-to-three weeks most Toronto studios are quoting — which is often fast enough for the deadline that sent you looking.

The retouching has to fit. Delivery is within 24 hours of the session, always. Getting images back the same calendar day is a different and narrower promise, and it depends on booking early enough in the day for the retouching to follow. A morning session frequently lands the same afternoon. A 6pm session will not.

So the practical advice is unglamorous: if you need images today, book the earliest slot showing rather than the most convenient one. If you need them by tomorrow, almost anything today will do it.

Preparing when you have two hours, not two weeks

Most headshot preparation advice assumes a week of notice. Short-notice bookings do not have that, and the good news is that very little of it actually matters on the day.

What is worth doing:

  • Pick one solid, mid-tone top or jacket. Something structured in navy, charcoal, deep green or a muted mid-blue. Solid colours photograph cleanly; tight stripes and small checks can shimmer against a high-resolution sensor.
  • Bring a second option if you have one to hand. It costs nothing to carry and it gives the session somewhere to go if the first choice reads wrong against the backdrop.
  • Steam or press it. Creases from a bag are the single most common thing that has to be fixed in retouching, and it is easier not to create them.
  • Arrive ten minutes early. Arriving out of breath shows in the first frames — the face holds the tension and the expression reads as guarded. Ten minutes of sitting still fixes it.
  • Drink some water and eat something. It sounds like filler advice. It is the difference between skin that photographs evenly and skin that does not.

What you can skip: a haircut booked for the same morning (a fresh cut often photographs better after a day or two), a new outfit bought for the occasion, and any practice in front of a mirror. Expression, posture and angle are directed during the session — that is the photographer's job, not something to arrive having rehearsed.

Does fast mean lower quality?

No — and this is worth being direct about. The name SpeedyHeadshots refers to turnaround time and session efficiency, not a compromise on image quality. We use professional studio lighting, full-frame cameras, and the same retouching process on every image regardless of when it's needed.

Speed comes from focus. We shoot headshots exclusively — not weddings, not events, not commercial products. A session at SpeedyHeadshots moves quickly because everyone in the room has done this thousands of times, not because anything is being skipped.

The equipment does not change with the booking window either. Sessions are shot on 61-megapixel Sony full-frame bodies with G-Master glass; a Leica M11-P is available on request at no extra charge if you want its particular rendering. What a longer, more expensive session buys is more looks and more retouched frames — not better lighting or a better camera. Retouching is the same natural, restrained process on every image regardless of turnaround.

What you get back, and in what form

Delivery is a Google Drive link sent to the email address you gave at booking, within 24 hours of the session. Inside it, organised by person:

  • Web-optimized files — sized and compressed for LinkedIn, a company directory, a speaker page or a bio block, so you are not uploading a 60-megapixel file to a profile field.
  • Full high-resolution versions — the same images at full size, for print, a press kit, or anything a designer will crop.
  • The retouched selects for your session tier, plus all the digitals from the shoot.

There is nothing else to request and no second stage to wait for. If you need additional images retouched beyond what your session includes, they are $50 each and can be added afterwards.

Can a whole team be done this fast?

An individual same-day booking is straightforward. A team is a different kind of job — it needs a room, a schedule, and usually a half or full day of studio time, which is why it starts with an email rather than an online slot.

The delivery promise does not change: teams get the same 24-hour turnaround, matched lighting and backdrop across every person, and the same Google Drive structure organised by name. Rates start at $175 per person for teams of 4–9 and fall to $125 per person for 20–24. From 25 people it is a $3,000 flat day rate, whatever the headcount.
